Playboy Plus review

Playboy Plus is the biggest official paysite for Playboy photos and videos. At the time of this review, it had 15.592 updates featuring 4.734 models.

The website has been recently upgraded with a new engine under the supervision of Gamma, so it is a perfect time to do a deep dive into it.

I suspect that even though the Playboy Empire is a pale shadow of what it was from the 1950s through to the 1980s, that you’d be hard-pressed to find anyone on this planet who wasn’t aware of the Playboy brand. I suspect a big part of this is because given Playboy’s reputation of being “respectable” adult entertainment, that most people wouldn’t be uncomfortable saying they are aware of it. I’m happy to report that Playboy Plus continues the Playboy tradition. The site features thousands of beautiful women in nude glamour photo shoots and videos.

In my reviews I strive to give a description of what the site offers. While many sites offer tours, many don’t. Given that our interests are subjective and unique, while I try to provide an objective assessment of the “nuts and bolts” of the site, I also want to provide readers with a good idea of what the site offers. With Playboy Plus, I think this will be an easy task. Most readers will recognize what Playboy stands for: beautiful women in glamorous settings. Playboy Plus includes photos and videos, but the common denominator is still that Playboy brand of glamour.

It might be easier to describe what Playboy Plus (and Playboy overall) isn’t. Unlike other magazines that struggled as VHS, DVDs, and eventually the internet came to dominate the adult industry, Playboy didn’t change. While magazines like Penthouse, which were always a little harder-edged than Playboy, chased the market with full hardcore, Playboy stood its ground, and I respect them for that. Here at Playboy Plus, you won’t find hardcore photos and videos. Playboy Plus is all about softcore, beautiful women in beautiful settings.

Before going further, I should note that while Playboy magazine and the Playboy Plus site being reviewed here remained softcore, their TV department went further and displayed sex. So if you’re looking for the more explicit Playboy content, you should check out our Playboy TV review.

Playboy Plus is a mix of photos and videos. In addition to the new sets, you also get access to a lot of content from Playboy’s archives. There are a few sets from the 1950s and 1960s, then a lot more from the 1970s and 1980s. Since Playboy wasn’t in the video business in the beginning, those sets are only photos. I think that having access to these historical sets is a real value here, and I’m sure that many others will agree. However the majority of the updates on the website was shot after 2000.

Readers should note that the site layout doesn’t divide between photos and videos. Update pages have a series of large thumbnails with the title of the update. At the bottom of each thumbnail are readily identifiable icons denoting photos and videos. Given that there are over 15,500 of these thumbnails, I didn’t take the time to count the number of videos available, but I can report that every one of those thumbnails has a photo set, and likely somewhere 8000 to 10,000 of them have an associated video. Given the size of the site, I think it would have been better for Playboy Plus to have a tag to separate out videos from the photos.

Since its beginning in the 1950s, Playboy has been about photos, and Playboy Plus carries forward with that tradition. While not every thumbnail on the site leads to a video, all the more-than-15,000 thumbnails do lead to a photo set. As I stated above, I’m confident that most readers will have some familiarity with the Playboy brand, and that brand is reflected in the photo sets. They are beautiful softcore sets with the model posing in sexy clothes, lingerie, and nude. There is no masturbation or toy play here. You will see plenty of perfect nude shots with a great view of the model’s tits and pussy, but they don’t go further than that.

The videos are also softcore with the model posing in sexy lingerie, bikinis, etc. and usually undressing. Most shoots have the model going through multiple wardrobe changes and frequently multiple locations. The videos average approximately 12 minutes each. As I stated above, these videos are about sensuality and glamour rather than explicit sexuality. Here, the models primarily pose in sensual positions. Playboy Plus isn’t about toys or masturbation. It’s all about celebrating beauty and sensuality.

While I’ve estimated the number of videos available here at somewhere between 8000 and 10,000, readers should also note that many of the videos are compilations with multiple models. These are usually based around a theme, such as large breasts, bikinis, or something like that. These compilation videos are usually identifiable by the title itself.

Readers are certainly entitled to form their own opinions, but I respect Playboy Plus for sticking to its roots of glamour and sensuality rather than going harder. Playboy hasn’t chased the part of the adult entertainment market that prefers hardcore sex, and that’s a good thing.

Readers should also note that Playboy Plus focuses exclusively on solo photo and video shoots. While there are G/G videos on the site, those require an upgraded membership. These videos are behind a “VIP” paywall and cost an additional $9.99 USD per month to access. In preparation for writing this review, we weren’t given access to the VIP shoots, so I can’t make a comment on them, though it’s reasonable to assume that the G/G photos and videos are the same quality as the rest of the site.

Whether it’s the videos or the photos, Playboy’s high standards are on display. Not only are the models beautiful, but the photos and videos look great. This doesn’t come as a surprise, because this high quality is part of the Playboy brand.

As with the quality of the videos and photos, anyone familiar with Playboy will understand that they feature some of the most beautiful women on the planet and have done so since the 1950s. Playboy Plus is no different. There are currently more than 4700 models with videos and/or photos here. While there is some variety in ethnicity, most of the models are Caucasian. There isn’t a lot of variety in age either, with the average age being in the low-to-mid 20s. Playboy has never been a brand that pushed the barely legal theme, nor have they leaned into MILFs. However, beautiful women in their mid-20s certainly hits the bull’s-eye for many of us.

With over 4700 models on the site, it seems to be an unusual choice for Playboy Plus to offer just two options for sorting them: alphabetical and hair colour. To be fair, the site does also list eight separate model categories, though many of those don’t have a discernible distinction. These categories, with the number of models listed in each are:

• Playmates (764 models)
• Celebrities (246 models)
• Playboy Muses (2457 models)
• All Stars (72 models)
• Editor’s Choice (2 models)
• International (745 models)
• VIP content (434 models)
• Playboy Creator (21 models)

Models in the Celebrities, Playmates, and Playboy Muses categories all appeared in Playboy, I think the only difference is how famous / successful models they are. “All Stars” are known porn stars such as Riley Reid, Kendra Sunderland, Alexis Crystal, Blake Blossom, and Lily Phillips who shot softcore nudes for Playboy.
The “VIP” category is primarily made up of models participating in G/G shoots. As I noted above, accessing the VIP scenes and photo sets costs an additional $9.99 USD per month.

Everything at Playboy Plus is available to download, and of course you can also watch the videos and view the pics on the website as well. You can find the available resolutions in the Photos and Videos section of the review. Readers should note that the resolutions for both videos and photos vary in a big collection that covers multiple decades. While I’ve listed 4K resolution as being available on videos, I can’t give an estimate of how many videos are offered with that resolution. Playboy Plus doesn’t offer any way to sort for 4K videos.

Unlike with the videos, the photos are only available in one resolution per photo set. When you click on the button to download the photo set, you get what you get, but this is pretty common. The online photo viewer displays the pictures in a lower resolution for the newer sets, but it’s still pretty high. The size of the photo sets varies, but it averages around 25 photos per set.

The site adds a new set every two days, but occasionally adds in an extra upload. Each update has a photo set, but not every update has a video with it. As I noted above, each scene/set has icons at the bottom showing if it includes both photos and a video.

The new design of the website looks good, the site is fast, it works flawlessly on all devices including computers and mobile phones.

The biggest downside to Playboy Plus is that it’s not well organized. For a site offering over 15,000 photo sets and somewhere between 8000 and 10,000 videos, I’d expect the site to have dozens or even hundreds of tags to help subscribers sort for their preferences. But there are no tags on the site at all, all that you get is those few model categories listed above.
The best that Playboy Plus offers is that members can sort between the most recent, most popular, most liked, and coming soon updates.
For what it’s worth, I found the easiest way to sort through the vast collection at Playboy Plus by sorting the models alphabetically and scrolling through to open a model’s page when her thumbnail intrigued me or if she was someone known to me.

Some readers may think this is a minor technicality, but Playboy Plus has recently become affiliated with Gamma Entertainment. Gamma Entertainment is among the largest adult entertainment companies on the internet. An advantage is that Gamma has its own proprietary billers and my experience with Gamma-billed paysite subscriptions is 100% positive. I’ve subscribed to Gamma sites many, many times over the years and I’ve never once had a bad experience with them as a biller. My credit card information has never been compromised through them, nor have I ever had a problem cancelling the membership.

Playboy Plus offers something to potential subscribers that is becoming increasingly rare, a full access tour. A potential subscriber can do a deep dive into the site, and preview its content before signing up. Playboy Plus deserves to be praised for this choice as many other sites, including many other sites under the Gamma umbrella, don’t offer tour access.

The bottom line is that Playboy Plus is a must see for everyone who is a fan of softcore erotica and teasing. I highly recommend checking it out, especially since it currently offers a full tour. The models are stunningly beautiful, as one would expect from a Playboy site, the photo sets are well shot, the videos are well shot and produced, and all of this can be downloaded and streamed in high quality.
